Let Our Love Grow

Hey everyone, happy June! I hope all is well. As I've been growing and maturing, I've become less selfish, and I have been trying to learn about what it is to truly like to love another person. I've also learned that it takes real effort to make a relationship grow. Let's face it, as one of my closest friend's said, "it's not easy to be with somebody."  Some of the secrets of happy couples I've learned are to recommit everyday, to be engaged, and to talk through conflict.

The poem below discusses those feelings of falling in love, trying to figure out how to love in a relationship, and then the things I will do to keep a healthy relationship.  As you read through this poem, tell me (in the Disquis comment boxes way down on the page), what things you do to keep your relationship prospering.

Also, there is a floral kimono below that I've fallen in love with; I will be wearing this kimono on repeat in the summer with shorts and dresses, and again in the fall and winter with jeans and boots.

Let Our Love Grow

There is a beautiful love in you, I see.
Falling in love with you is easy,
But learning to love you is not so breezy.

But I want to love you, in my heart I see.
So I must try, try, to give with love's giving tree

I have learned that love is not all rainbows and butterflies.
I have learned that there will be moments that will move mountains, but there will also tornadoes in love's skies.

So how do I keep our love grounded, fastened to the earth?
Balanced, deep rooted, keeping its' worth

So these are things I will do to make our love bloom,
So it doesn't wither into doom:

I will show my love to you, through words and actions,
Recommitting to you every day.

I will be playful, and I will positive.
I will never let you go.

I won't sweat the small things in life.
I will talk through conflict.

That is my commitment to you
To make our love grow.

Wounded by Your Love

Happy Friday! I hope all is well. I've had quite a week! I'm sleep deprived to the say the least. One thing that I have experienced in my past that has been difficult for me to express is losing someone I love, whether it's through death, dissociation, or any other means. Losing an association with someone you care about is always painful. Sometimes you don't realize the loss until years later, when you crave that companionship. With that, this poem questions that wound for me in my personal life when I was younger and sorts through my feelings.

Wounded by Your Love

When I was young,
We split up.
We lost our way; it stung

It was a slow sting
One that got worse overtime
Clinging into my skin; there are so many memories, now that I’m recollecting

That formed a wound of your love,
The memories of you walking me to school
The memories of us shooting squirt guns
The memories of us having soccer competitions
The memories of our sibling like bonding time
The memories of us smiling, and laughing
A powerful unit

I went on to a new school, and house
You stayed in the old
Following family orders

And as our families grew apart
You went on your ways, moving up and without looking back.
But, I, a little girl at heart

Who had that wound of your love
That would sometimes, disappear, and reappear
It was tough

Because, I never knew why
You never wanted to keep that relationship
There were so many times I tried,
Reaching out to you,

It’s true,
But you didn’t want to,

Keep that relationship
And that made the wound reappear
And my heart was like a wrecked ship

Wounded by your love.
